Well, the evaporators have been shut down for two days now. Too cold for sap to run. Had snow squalls most of yesterday.
Turned into a really nice day here, and the sap buckets were filling. Took a tour of the bush today with the 440. Tomarrow will be a a good day with 50gal. plus production of syrup. We need another 7 days to reach our goals.
I took these pics. in front of my shop/woodshed, where the sun shines in from the south west, about 4:30 this afternoon. My Davis weather station out in the garden registered a high for the day of 49F on my computer. It sure was nice here in front of the shop though.

Their done here. Trees are starting to bud. Haven't talked to my friend to find out how it went this year.

Trees are done here in Ohio to I put 5 taps in to start this year. Loren what state are you located in?

No buds here. Lots of frost in the woods. We're hopeing for good 7 day run and making 50gal of syrup per day. Keeping our fingers crossed!!!
Loren.

When eating supper tonight ,looked out the window and could see the redbud on the neighbors soft maple from 60 feet away. If the redbud is out the sugar maple is not far behind.

Nick,
we have 2150 buckets hung. I expect that we will collect about 3000 gal of sap tomarrow, as that is all the storage we have including the gathering tanks, and what the evaporators can consume, during the day. Tomarrow will run into Tuesday in the sap house, and then on to Wed/ to get cautght up.
Google 13333 for location.
