Finally decided to look @ the suspension on my '76 1070. It's always felt a bit loosey goosey and now I know. The coil spring was broken, the adj gear on the knob has no teeth. The dampner lay on the bottom, the upper shaft it was fastened to had come loose and slid enough for it to drop. Since I've removed it I've looked at 2 other pieces for replacement and they are both trash. Here's the question: Is it worthwhile attempting to find a usable suspension or should I be searching the aftermarket? I really don't need a 1K air deal as this tractor only turns my round baler on 80 acres or so, so I'm not in the unit 12 hours a day. I've a Red Devon grass fed beef herd and my tillage consists of a bit of pasture hay ground renovation occassionaly and my tillage tools are more fitted to my 400 which does a great job. The 1070 is used becasue the NH 6' baler was a bit of a grunt for the 400, although it did work for several years. Thanks for your 2 bits. There are several salvage yards around West central MN, it's just how many units do I need to screw around with and remove to see they're toast. I guess the long and short is I'm fishing for an opinion on which way to go....
