Not a D , on D the hold down are is the middle on both sides and does not have those cut out

From a tractor ...yes...combine possible, but not sure. One would have to be choosy what fuel type.

It"s a holder for all your Rusty Acre pens!!!

Definitely a battery cover. Seriously, it looks like it is intended for 2 six volt batteries with those 4 "posts" sticking up.

I'll guess it's for a diesel engine, but no clue as to which.

If a old style 300 had the propane option, the LP tank takes all the room, where the battery normally should be.
The battery was moved to the foot platform , and this should be the cover.
