Hello everyone, I have a 930 with the adjustable front axle and I was wondering if the axle could be turned around so it would have a tighter turning radius?
I was looking at a 1030 wheatland and it looks like it has a row crop axle thats just spun around.
It cant be that simple can it?

I have been told the steering is backward something has to be changed in the steering , i had one with the turned around axle i could not tell much different , lin the radius , tom in ky

I do not think you would like it turned around. I know of many that have been changed to move the axle forward. When the wheel base is short they ride much rougher, and with machines that pull off to the side like a silage cutter, or mower conditioner they pull the tractor all over the place.

I myself much prefer the short wheel base units my 930/1030 specials will all but stop the inside rear wheel in a full turn

If you are up for an interesting experience try your hydro swing on there some time. We had a 930 CK Std that we pulled a 2 row silage chopper with. It was nothing short of dangerous on the road. Up hill it would pull the front end 6" to the left from straight, and down hill 6" to the right. If you were not steady on the foot throttle it would do both inside of 2 seconds. We lengthened it out about 8" and it made all the difference in the world. For tillage work it was great.

I was thinking of cutting the spindles down and mounting tires and rims that were used on the N series Gleaners rear axle.
I cant remember what size the tire is but it is big enough that I'm sure it would really smooth out the ride.

Have you considered switching to an old style dual wheel tricycle front end? An uncle had a 930 CK with a narrow front for cultivating and it was much handier tractor to manuver than his 1070 with a WFE. I don't know if a NF from 700 to 830 tractors will fit a 930 or not.
