Need SC help

Last nite I was draining calf #h#t out of a '53 SC I recently bought & this piece floats out. 1/8" square stock. One 90 is still intact, but looks like it broke at the start of another 90. I don't know where it might have come from. Anyone recognize it?

This is a piece of the spring that prevents you from accidently shifting into reverse. I just replaced the spring on mine, and I don't know where the broken piece of mine is yet. The spring is located on the "shifter pattern plate" (probably not the correct name) on the bottom side of the top cover. I have seen several that broke at that bend. Don't worry, there is nothing else that is likely to come loose.

Aaaawwww shucks, I knew that. I was just testing you fellows......Actually, I didn't know, & appreciate the help.
