Another Case

Just today brought home my recently aquired 1951 Case DC. I am the second owner. This tractor was converted to LP in 1963, at least that is the date on the LP tank. It has a Century regulator and 5505A heads. Distributor ignition. It is loose. Past owners son does not know the last time it ran. It has been kept in a shed for the most part. My question to anyone who can help, where do I start to check over and rebuild the fuel delivery system???. gobble

Outstanding Tom! You have done well .You must have pics posted to proceed. Will you need to get taller boots to see over the LP tank? HEE I found this LP on the web. Is she is pretty close to this one.Once again ,Great find! Wide front end Tom? I see a bull gear conversion in your future.

Why do you think it needs a rebuild? My son bought a propane DC and we rebuilt the engine, but only put propane in and ran it. I also did the same with my 930 propane. Unless the system is apart, I would try it. Propane doesn't gum up the fuel system like gasoline.

chuck, i very much would like a description of this statement, see a bull gear conversion in your future. I have the exact tractor with major steering problems. chuck jr.

A bull gear conversion, would be removing the bull gears in the transmission and putting in a larger or smaller bull gear, depending weather you want to go faster or slower. As far as the steering goes ,I would guess you either have loose linkage on the roost ,wheel bearings are shot or your steering box has too much end play, and all three are easily repairable.Feel free to shoot me an email if you need more insight,I'm glad to share what knowledge I have.Chuck

My DC3 LP started right up after sitting for years. I agree with casecollectorsc, chances are it will work. Keep in mind you should not work on the fuel system inside near an open flame source. LP gas will settle downward near the floor. Don

Don, CasecollectorSC, Thanks for the replys. I do not have a DC LP operators manuel so very cautious about the entire open this valve close that one etc. Gauge on tank says empty. Will be a day or three before I can get a new 6volt battery, the mice got into the broken exhaust manifold, I can see some seed beans in there. So will be awhile before I am ready to give this thing a try. Thanks I appreciate the help tom...aka gobble
