Today something came up that got me thinking about a friend that pasted on at a young 42. yr old , though i would share a story . .I grew up on a small dairy in southeastern ky ,got out of high school in 74 , Eddy was a little jounger than than me ,and. his brother karl was my age and they grew up on a beef cattle. farm ,close to our dairy. I thank we all were close friends because of the FFA and respect for each others hard work ethics , in 1981 our county had there 1 st tractor pull ,i took a 570 case ,and my 1030 knew nothing about pulling , eddy was there helping ,like usual, the next year he was there again helping ,he evan had a shirt with plumdamcrazy pulling team on the back ,evan brough me one, a suprise.A few mounths later! our lives changes,my famly sold the farm, i moved 80 miles away went to work in construction, 5 yrs pasted didnt see my friends much but kept in touch ,eddy called excited about a pull that was coming up close to home, wanted me to bring my m farmall ,get the old gang togrther kind of thing ,the track was wet ,with 25 tractors in each class or more ,all right out of the field , I won the 5500 lb class ,6500 lb, then entered the 7500 lb class with eddys help we chained weights all over it ,told eddy to get in the seat ,open it up and let it eat ,he had never pulled before , well he won the class, beat 7610 fords, 2950 deere with an m ,second place was20 ft back, Eddy was like a kid in a candy store ,so i gave him the trophy , fast foward 20 yrs , got a call Eddy was riding a 4 wheeler ,stoped to fix his light, had massive heart attack ,fell over dead as a post , at the funeral by the casket was that little pulling trophy, his wife told me that she though that was the happyest day of his life , that he showed it to ever one ,told the story hundreds of times , when they closed the casket they placed the trophy in it , sometimes you never know what one simple deed might mean to someone else, 6 yrs later we lost his brother karl ,died heart problems also, miss my friends, sorry for the long post ,tom in ky

Sorry to hear you lost 2 childhood friends so early. It sounds like you had some very good times with them. Your story sure reminds me of more carefree times when tractor pulling was neighbor against neighbor for bragging rights. Don

Thanks for sharing, Tom. Sorry for your losses. You're absolutely right, sometimes the smallest kind things are the biggest to another person. I try to remember that when raising my kids. They're 9, 7, and 4. Things that seem like nothing to you are the world to them. Great message, and great story, thanks again.

Tom sorry for your loss, it's great that you and your friends stayed in contact, something I didnt do. I graduated in 73. Never went to a school reunion or kept in contact with any friends. You will always have those memories.

Tom, Thank you for sharing your story with us. Friends are very important part of our lives . Jerry from Ohio
