mite needsome advice from my case family ... my nephew up and bought a 1030 400 miles away,,we may need a few prayers of trust ,after viewing multiple pix , he decided to buy before someone else jumped on it,,. he sent the money order in full today to someone we only know by telephone, and he trusts , /// maybe everything will turn out fine ,, but personally that move makes me nervous, and I really don't want to tell him I think he should done something different and he might could go wrong,, he is a great kid ,,.but he is still tryin to line up a way to get it home ..it may be 2 weeks or more before we send a truck .. I am thinkin to ask the seller to fax him a bill of sale ,, I thank you for what other security ideas you guys have ...

If it is a U.S.postal money order .they will go after him if he doesnt come through.... mail fraud.... I would ask for a bill of sale tonight or first thing sunday. (email , fax) also keep the ad. & make a copy of money order receipt. USPS can track it.....Its only 400 miles, You could meet him there to pick up the tractor the day the M.O, arrives...if you cant haul it, have a local tractor dealership move it to their shop for safe keeping. Just a couple ideas. Good luck, you should be fine. john

Tough call make copies of everything and get the tractor as soon as possible.

That said I bought a tractor sight unseen from a dealer 150 miles away from my home with a credit card.

I do it on a regular basis. It's the way of the world anymore. Lots of things COULD go wrong but I've never not gotten the tractor I paid for. Now if it was as described.....that's a different deal. But that's the risk of buying off pictures.

thanx for your responses guys ,, its gonna make everyone feel a little better ,, and we will take all precautions suggested ,, jh

as said below. Bill of sale , plenty of photos , cancelled check and best yet would be a complete history , in text/pics , on your e-mail of the complete transaction covering all details of the sale, payment and removal/trucking/storage agreement. I bought a tractor 1100 mi away and let's face it, your best defense against fraud is person to person conversations and using your head and even your "gut feeling" should play into it. Mine was bought three months before I finally got a good trucking price to get it home. All worked out great. Everything worthwhile in life has it's risk/reward ratio. It's up to you to according to your individual risk tolerance.

I have done it probably 4 or 5 times.Always get a little nervous but it has all worked out.I always get a Bill of Sale or title,if a vehicle, sent as soon as payment clears and try to get it out of there as soon as possible.I have also sold them that way.I always give as good a description as I can and don't even consider driving the tractor until it is picked up to go to its new home.

May be one of the guys here on the forum lives near where the tractor is and could swing by the sellers house and sort of check things out.

Is the tractor in Fulton, MS? If it is, I am the seller. Put your mind at ease. I treat people like I want to be treated. I will be glad to send you any kind of paperwork you need. The tractor is not in my way nor is it where someone else will mess with it. Best Regards

yes ,it is,Tracy,, wonderful ,,great to hear from you ,, . certainly hope you understand I meant no offense ,, ,.i spoke with you 1st and handed you off to nephew james ... it seems that our options keep changing for the better on how to get the 1030 home , this am, I spoke with sis , ,it seems we have found the best method and are gonna send two neighbors who intend to go to auction further south in about 2 weeks . doubtful if I or either of us will make the trip , , I would be nice to meet you and ,a road trip south to green grass and warmer weather would sure feel good but moms health is failing fast and she can go any day now ...

No offence taken. I have prepaid several times and so far never got burned but I"ve told my wife one of these days I"ll go and there will be no tractor and the people won"t know anything about it. One of the reason I like playing with old tractors is the people I meet. In general, it seems to be a higher level of Intregrity than most
