Case 630 Drawbar

I picked up a 630 last year with no draw bar. Finally got around to going to a steel yard and getting a 2"x38"x3/4" piece of steel for the draw bar with a piece welded to the bottom to stiffen it.

Yesterday looked under the tractor to see what size pin to use, it measures 1-1/8". With 2", that leaves 7/16 on each side of the draw bar hole, which doesn't seem strong enough. I am considering a bushing for a 3/4 or 7/8 pin. Does anyone have a 630 who can tell me what I need to do? Thanks and sorry for no pictures.

My drawbars for my 430"s are 2.5"wide x 1-1/8" thick. The B series tractors had drawbars similar in size to what you bought, and I have yet to see one that hadent been broken and welded up.

How about one of these? Eagle Hitch Drawbar.

The 1-1/8" pin is probably a little over engineered for 30-50 hp tractors, but......by the time you design and implement your bushing setup, you might be better off securing a bar that is closer to the standard dimensions Loren provided.

Thanks Loren. This draw bar would get in the way of the PTO shaft I think. But the other dimensions are interesting. The extra half inch means 11/16, almost an inch, of steel on each side. That would work, but I think I was looking at a B series to verify dimensions. I should be OK with the lighter draw bar as I would mostly be haying, no trailer plows or heavy disk.

(quoted from post at 18:37:16 03/10/14) Since we're on the subject is this the correct drawbar for a 310B?

That's a VAC drawbar, don't know if it fits others though.

I used a broken drawbar from a LA,500,600,900 or 930. They have a long drawbar that is frequently found broken at the drawbar support where the roller is welded on. There is plenty of straight drawbar left to make a good drawbar for a 630. A 630 drawbar (and the rest of the Rock Island tractors) sticks back quite a ways unsupported. You want to make it out of good material and make it long enough that the PTO geometry is correct.
