970 oil on clutch

I have a 970 case with a gear shift. When plowing my clutch will slip in second gear if I am plowing in tough clay. The clutch was new 2 years ago. When warm, oil will drip out of the small hole under the tractor. We put a small light with a camera in the hole. The oil was coming from around the range drive shaft. So my neighbor split the tractor. The clutch had oil on it. He took the range shaft out and put a dial indicatore on it. It was good. He put a new oil seal on. Also a new Oring. The bearing seemed ok. Put it back together and it still leaked oil when warm. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is. THANKS

I had a 930 I put a clutch in same thing leaking oil replaced the seals you stated but still was leaking HYD oil found the three small seals and big O-ring between the bellhousing and transmission are bad allowing oil to leak into the clutch housing.

Check the O-rings on the flywheel. I think one of them is listed in the pto section of the parts book. One goes on the back side of the flywheel I think and the other goes under the flange on the clutch side. We have had them go bad and cause the clutch to get wet and slip.

The oil seal (o-ring) on the clutch shaft should be the one leaking hydraulic fluid. the part number is A57479. The other oil seal part number is A27996.

My opinion if case would have stayed with the oil bath clutch you would have no problem. Having said that other things Case engineers did that in my estamation kept better tractors from being great. The only thing that saved the day for them is that other manufactors were just as bad. I also know that the cost factor made things cheaper than most would like.

If the 2 o rings & the seal are replaced at the flywheel then the oil is coming out of the trans. You need to remove the flywheel housing to gain access to the seal in the rear of the throw out bearing carrier tube.
