My DC-4 heart-shaped bracket had been broken and had a strap wrapped around it that was bolted to the bracket to hold the pin in place. It needs a strap to hold it in place in case you hit a hole or the front wheels raise off the ground. I think it takes a pretty hard lick to break the heart shape bracket.
The bracket can be welded fairly easily.
I took my bracket off, and ground it smooth. I then took a piece of round stock bored a 1" hole for the pin in it and cut a half moon section out of it. I ground a vee in it to weld it.
I probably spent 8 -10 hrs welding it up, but it is not noticeable now.

Nick, I have one of those front ends but it is missing the RH spindle steering arm, I was thinking they are different than the regular std wide front end from a DC-4 or am I thinking wrong will they interchange? if they don't I have a front end that is just parts thanks cnt
