Road Trip - M Series Plow

I just finished a two day trip that included meeting an exceptional family in Northern Illinois and the acquisition of a very nice M series plow. I've been looking for a nice 3x14 Eagle Hitch mounted plow for some time, and recently found it. Mark Bowgren from La Fox, Illinois did a great job of restoring this example.

Meeting Mark and his father was a rare treat. We were able to reminisce about the good old days of feeding cattle in Illinois. It was interesting to find how similar our families were back in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970's.

Mark has restored a beautiful 1962 831 that his father bought new. I was so busy admiring his work on that I never took a picture. I hope he can share a picture here sometime. It truly is a work of art.

Thanks again Mark.

Looks like a perfect match for my 630, or maybe the 350.

My nephew Robbie seems to approve. I don't get to spend enough time with Robbie. He's an amazing little guy who is about to celebrate his third birthday.

Great looking plow and tractor with a future operator waiting his turn. Thanks for the look, hope its not the last time we see them, Rod.

Joe,
Nice looking plow and awesome picture of your nephew. Glad to see you're bringing him up right. He could use a CASE cap though. LOL Don

Joe great looking plow. Are you going to put a land polish on it?
Looks like the shop has been busy. It's great to get the kids
involved, you will both have memories for a lifetime. Mike

Very nice, I have the "sister" to that plow for my 630. Now I know what series it is where or who do I get the operator manual for it? So I can set it up for spring plowing. Thank-you for sharing. God Bless

Joe, that is a great looking plow, but the pic of Robbie is greater!. The look on his face is priceless! Thank you for the pictures.
I am wondering if you are from the La Fox area, or have relatives in that area? I grew up in the same county and knew that there was a Case dealer there a very long time ago. clint.

Don, Thank you. Paul and his wife Gina are doing a great job with Robbie... AKA Speedy. It takes both of them to keep up the young lad sometimes. Robbie had a Case hat at one time but I haven't seen it in a while.... We'll have to rectify that issue with a "Old Abe" cap as soon as possible...

Paul finished the 6x16 J series plow last fall. It was too late in the season to get much testing done, but he did plow a small patch of sod with it behind his 1030. It's a dandy setup. You'll have to stop by again on your way through. - Joe

Clint, we're actually from the far west side of the state, just about 15 miles east of the Mississippi, and about 15 miles south of the Quad Cities.

That La Fox area looks like it was an amazing livestock area at one time. We passed farmstead after farmstead with silos and feeding systems that were once used to finish cattle. Sadly, its now becoming part of the western suburbs of Chicago. It's great that the farming families are able to realize the significant value of their properties by selling off the land by the square foot, but very sad that we are paving over some of the most productive farm land that could be found anywhere in the world. I guess that is progress????

Mike,

I can't wait to sink the plow into some Illinois topsoil. Hopefully we can make that happen this coming fall. That is Paul's shop, and he's been busy with several projects this winter. One is almost ready for prime time.... I'll let him post the picture when it's done.

I only get to see Robbie every few months, but it's always a lot of fun when that happens. I'm in the process of raising two teenage daughters, so seeing/watching a very busy little boy is completely different ball game......

I just saw an operators manual for these M Series plows on eBay.

A link to that listing is <A HREF="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-Mounted-Plow-Manual-Eagle-Hitch-/181337541284?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a388f4aa4">HERE.</A>

Rob, I've got a feeling you'll see a lot more of Robbie in the years ahead. Paul is going to have his hands full keeping Robbie off of the equipment over the next few years until he's old enough to operate the equipment himself.....

Robbie does have a little electric Case tractor of his own that gets lots of use, weather permitting.

Sure wish I could find a 3-14 for my 630 somewhere close to me down here in central Texas. Nice looking plow Joe!

Jim
