Case 930/970 motor

I've been in need of a motor for my case 930 for a couple years now. Found one out of a case 970. I know they are the same displacement and same internals. Are they the same block though? Or would I have to build support frames for it like the 70 series has? Thanks, Jordan

the block will work as good as the "30" series block did, the only reason some of the "70" series(1170/1175/1270/1370/1570) had the side rails was for mounting implements or tanks ect, it does take some modifications to install in the "30" series chassis though

Do you know off the top of your head what those modifications would be? Is it too much of a pain in the keester? Thanks again

you will need to drill the hole for the steering rod if the one you found does not have it some of the early ones do, the injection system is on the opposite side so throttle linkage will have to be redone, and intake is on the other side so intake piping will have to change, here is a 1030 with a 504 installed it can be done just not a bolt in and go switch

That's a sharp looking tractor you got there! Is the 970 bumped up any more horse than the 930? Or is the horsepower/fuel efficiency pretty comparable? Thanks

the 1030 is not mine, the 970 has about 10%-15% more power than the 930, powertrain should be fine with that, as far as fuel the 970 will burn less as well providing the pump is set to factory specs
