was wondering if i could take the 990 12 speed trans and put it in the 1212 powershift trans place

Just changing the transmission won't work. The 1212 housing is a totally different animal than that of any 990, and there were lots of changes to the 990 over its production period.

There may be a combination of parts that could be made to work depending on which 990 you have for a donor.1212 front half and clutch, 990 transmission and chassis, 1212 hydraulics and plumbing... You would need to have the 2 side by side and do some measuring.

A 1212 engine will drop right into a 990.

A 1200 or a 1210 would be a better choice.
