What would be your thoughts on resurfacing C1 and C4 reaction plates going back with new steels and fibers? Also the c1 sun gear looked up the part i think you are talking about the c1 fiber disc from a 1370 part #a142536 to redo the870 sun gear just want to make sure before ordering the parts. The reaction plates are not real bad but would like to have a true flat finish for new parts to contact to, but dont know if it would effect piston travel and cause slipping first rps34 rebuild! Thanks on advance.

I never have had any plates surfaced. I do not know of any spec's as to how much material can be safely removed. Without seeing them it is hard to make a comment on what to do. A lot of plates do show some wear, but it is relatively flat and does not cause problems. If the plate is not grooved or deeply scored personally I would reuse it. Replace the clutch disc's and you should be good to go. If your powershift is apart reseal the pistons. If your pistons have the exspander wire behind the seal toss them and get new style pistons that use a o'ring under the square seal ring. Rod.

Thanks on the sun gear the one i have has six rivets that hold the disc on . The disc from the 1370 a142536 would that be the one to replace the disc on the sun gear?

Good that the sungear has the rivets, much easier to replace the disc. If thats the no. for the C-1 disc, then its the one you want. I don't have a parts book handy to check the no. That disc will come with the 6 holes to install the rivets in. Rod.

Rod, My machine shop buddy programmed one of his machines to cut the splines for the old style plate. If you are in need of that being done.
