Fluid levels

I recently purchased a Case 631C-H. In checking fluid levels today before doing some grading I found the trans level to be unacceptably low. As I have not yet received the maintenance manual for this tractor I am at a loss where the fill tube is for the trans other than using the trans dip stick tube which while it may work is exceptionally small.

Also other than seeing Dextron being used is there a factory recommended trans fluid. I believe it is classified the Case-o-matic as it has 4 forward/1 reverse in a low/high combination.

Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks Case Nutty 1660. There is no place around here carrying the Case Hytran so I"ll either have to order it or find a suitable substitute. My 631 has a breather much the same as your but on the opposite side of the dip stick.

I guess I should have asked what the capacity of the trans is. While there is no measurable amount appearing on the dipstick there is some splashing that is hitting the stick. Also what is the best way to check the transmission level? I"m on a level surface and have engaged the trans in low with the brake applied.

capacity is 12 quarts total you can check it that way or with engine off and oil cold it should read over full with engine off

Well, I dropped in a gallon of dextron and it did even show on the dipstick. I'll pick up some more Wednesday and take care of it. Thank for all the help. Now I hope the maintenance manual gets here in time to provide some winter reading material.
