Case 1948 DV Serial # 5218256 Restoration

This is my first Case restoration. This tractor uses shutters to control the engine temp. but the upper block to tank elbow appears that it can accommodate a thermostat. A thermostat doesn't appear in the parts book. Is it possible to install a Thermostat.
Also I am not sure if I should paint the shutters Flambeau Red or Cast Gray. Thanks Dave

Everything is Flambeau except for the rims, starter, and generator. As for the shutters and thermostat, the shutters were either to help a kerosene engine warm up faster or as a cold weather aid on a gasoline tractor. Thermostats were an option.

David,
Hi. I believe the later model DV parts book shows a thermostat, I will check this weekend. On another subject, does your DV happen to have the vineyard fenders? I have a '51 DV, and am looking for vineyard fenders to take pictures of and get measurements for.
Thank you, Fred

David,
Hi again! I got a look at the Late D model Parts book and the Thermostat is PN 08989AB. It appears to fit in the tank end of the tank outlet elbow.
I sure would appreciate those pics of the fenders too.
Thank you.
Regards,
Fred
