It was a perfect fall day here at Clinton Camp Farm today.

Well, we had our first frost of the season last night. Not a hard one, but it got the squash leaves. The wifey and I picked the last of the mators last evening and brought them in, about a Bu. I headed for the upper 40 at 9:00 this morning. The uncle was hot on my tail with the MX110 and hydroswing discbine to mow the 22A ield between the woods. The 3rd cut alfalfa wasn't very heavy, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I have several roads in the woods to the right of the field and have drug logs and tops to landings along them. I spent most of the day blocking and splitting, followed by loading one load onto the Chebby wood gitter to bring home. I got about half of the load stacked in my woodshed before beer thirty. I guess the rest will be there tomarrow morning, along with the other load that is laying up in the woods.

Loren its a sure sign colder times are ahead when you start packing away firewood. Wow a frost already, we have only seen mid 40's yet. Silage cutting is in full swing, Soybean harvest will start around Oct 1. Nice pics, Rod.

Nice pics, thanks. You make me tired looking at all that wood in the truck. Don't work to hard, there's tomorrow.

Loren,
Thanks for the great pics. I have been too busy to post much this summer, but have enjoyed catching up every few days looking at everyone's posts on here.

Wonderful scenery, I have a older reining horse that would really enjoy 3rd cutting alfalfa. Little spoiled. Is that the shed you were working on?

Don,
All of it is maple, ash, cherry, and a bit of hardhack. The ash are dieing fast, and we have had a lot of tops broken off from ice storms. I don't cut any healthy trees, except along fence lines.

Loren, looks like a day out in paradise. I can smell the wood from the stove already, yep I better get some cut too.
I bet that barley pop tasted good after that full day.
Those roads are good for them evening drives.
Looks like nice cobs.
How's the old back after a long day of cutting?
Dan
