59' Case 311B

The original governor spring part number for the 300B series was G47037, which appears to be obsolete. Unfortunately, I can't find a current number that it subs to.

The 300 round nose governor spring was VT4588 which subs to A30572. Similarly the 400B original part number was VT3066 which subs to A30127.

I didn't really answer your question, but maybe your parts man can hunt done the correct, current part number with these as background info.

Joe, shouldn't the spring for the 400b and 300b be the same? I thoght the only difference in the two was that the 300b was a dry clutch and the 400b was COM.

Jim

That was my first thought as well Jim, but the parts manual calls out two different numbers. I suspect it has to do with the different RPM settings. Case increased the engine RPMs on the COM tractors. The no-load engine speed settings are 2050 for the 300B and 2125 for the 400B.

That being said, I would guess Case is no longer stocking all of the various springs. It wouldn't surprise me if all of the early 148 engines with the single governor springs all sub to the same part number now.... - Joe
