Getting the Itch.....

For three years now my '52 DC, '54 SC, and '54 VAC-14 have been tucked away in my brother's shed 20 miles from here. In that time I have finished off my shop so it's better lit and heated than the house, and our now young adult children have pretty well left the nest.

Plan is to get all three of my babies home before winter, (between the shop, lean-to, and over size garage, everything will be inside). The DC and SC are nearly field ready. The VAC, being my most recent aquisition, is complete/running, but needs the most work.

Goal is to take them to some shows, use them to a limited degree around here, and at my brother's dairy farm where anything but CASE is disgrace.

That said, which one would you work on first? I have by far the most experience with DCs, but my personal favorite changes from day to day.

DC & SC are live pto, foot clutch, eagle hitch, and adjustable wide front equipped. SC tires are useable, but the poorest of the three tractors.

Thanks for listening.

The problem is, as I start working on my tractors again I'm reminded I really need an LAI, 430, a_______, and a _________.

The SC is a pretty rare tractor in these parts. Don't see one with foot clutch and live power often. Son bought a SC adj. wide front with straight hood fenders etc. that he will leave that way. Good originals are that only once.

Am I correct when I remember that you rebuilt one of those AWF's? Where did you find tie rod ends? I need a full set. DK

Boy, it's been 5 years or more since I rebuilt thosevfront ends. I only had one bad tie rod end and just happened upon a good used one. The problem with my front nds was that all the spindles, center shaft & housings were sloppy/worn out of round. I had everything built up & machined down and put bushings in all the housings. The thing I still need to do is get the play out of the gear boxes.

Sorry I can't be of help with a new tie rod source. We have pretty good machine suppliers around here, but I don't expect I hag access to anything different than you.
