gear ratio in a sc

I was wondering what the sprocket count was on my sc. Did case ever make a low gear/sprocket set for a sc? I would like to get a 1.5 mph first gear for a little extra power for local brush pulls.

Maybe Pastor John will see your post. He replaced SC bull gears with those from an SI (Model S industrial version) to get a faster running tractor for tractor rides. Good luck with your project. Keep us updated. gobble

The Smaller Sprockets came out of a S Case... that is what you need. i included a pic of the two side by side in the tractor....big difference.

I went from 11-15 MPH on my 1949 SC. If I put bigger rear tires on I could get more.

Go to Archives and type in 1949 SC Sprocket change and you will find plenty of pictures on what we did. Good Luck

I used a Garmin GPS device to determine the Speed in 4th gear.

4th gear

45 tooth sprocket (original) 11 MPH
36 tooth sprocket 15 MPH

3rd gear

45 tooth sprocket (original) 6 MPH
36 tooth sprocket(est.1/3 increase) 8 MPH

2nd gear

45 tooth sprocket (original) 4 MPH
36 tooth sprocket(est.1/3 increase) 5+ MPH

1st gear

45 tooth sprocket (original) 3 MPH
36 tooth sprocket (est.1/3 increase) 4+ MPH

As I said 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear speeds are estimates.

I have a video of my first spin down the road coming soon on You tube. Caseman 618

Speeding it up is simple. Slowing it down will be more of a challenge. If you go smaller tires you will loose traction.

You are so very right. Didn't read that post correctly.

I'm not sure there is a larger sprocket available to slow that SC down?

I guess smaller tires are an option. I'm not sure if anyone has tried a SC geared tractor with S rear tires'

I can tell you I have not noticed any loss in power with speeding mine up. Those greenies drop down on steep hills and I just cruise along. I have never had to shift down even at 7-8 MPH in 4th on the steepest hill

From Pastor John's picture, it does not look like there is much room for larger rear sprockets. Could you have someone custom make some smaller front sprockets?
