Case MX100C Injector pump timing

Hello,

I need help to time an injector pump on a MX100C Case tractor with a 4 cylinder Perkins. The injector pump only has a taper, not a key!

Can someone please help?

Thanks,
Tim

Does your engine have 4 bolts through the pump drive gear that thread into the pump hub, that's how other newer Perkins engines are. If so, hub is to stay on pump, and a notch in hub lines up with a hole at 6 o clock position and TDC crankshaft location on #1 compression stroke. Hub is placed on pump after a certain degree mark per pump spec sheet after calibration, no location key is used. Pump is lock timed for assembly to hold shaft in correct location.

Thanks for your reply.

It does have 4 bolts through the drive gear that thread into the pump hub. Where the bolts go through the drive gear is slotted.

Near the drive end of the pump, seems to be a long bolt with a removable spacer, is this the lockable pin?

Thanks,
Tim.

Yes, the lock timing bolt is at the drive end of housing, has a shoulder for the large hole in plate to slide over so end of bolt can thread in farther to lock the shaft in place. The drive hub must never be removed from pump, only the gear so hub can stay with the pump. Hub is properly located after pump is tested per the test plan spec.

I've got to take it to the Diesel shop to get the pump resealed - looks like they can jump up and down about me removing the hub!

Thanks for the info.

Tim.
