Case 430 Brake Problem.

My 430 is leaking lubricant from the differential housing onto the brake lining resulting in no brakes. I thought that this was an easy matter of replacing the "O" Ring and seal in the Bearing Carrier which I have done before. However, this tractor is equiped with a Differential Lock and the little seal (A35919)is leaking between the Differential Cross Shaft (A35918)and the R.H.Gear Assy(A37928). My question is. How do you remove the little A35919 seal for replacement without tearing apart the whole rear end of the tractor to get to it? This little seal is only about .125" wide and is recessed back into the R.H. Gear Assy. about an inch. If anyone has worked on a 430/530 with the Differential Lock set up, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I had the same problem on a 580 backhoe last winter. I drilled a tiny hole in the seal and pulled it out with a sheet metal screw. Worked GREAT!! Make sure your brake shaft bearings are tight. If not the seals will never hold. To tighten remove shims from the proper side to maintain ring gear and pinion clearance.

I sacrifice a cheap 90 degree o ring pick and shorten the tip and slightly flatten it and insert it between the two shafts and under the seal lip and turn it 1/4 turn and use side cutters to grab the shaft of the pick and use the end of the shaft as a fulcrum point to lever it out. You should measure how deep the seal is in and make a driver out of exhaust tubing with a stainless steer hose clamp located as a stop to keep from driving it to deep. We dealers have a special tool to drive them but some applications will not allow it's use. I can see removing the main brake shaft seal with a sheet metal screw but never considered doing it with the diff lock shaft seal.

I have LS430,when I start the car most times it's fine, but when I take off from Park to Drive the SKID command lightweight comes on and beeps and the vehicle begins to brake on it own..What is the reason behind it? Any proposals ? I am also going through Auto Repair Mission Viejo.
