Was out discing yesterday with the 811b and ker-bang! Tranny jumped out of gear and won't go back in or shift much at all. Makes a grinding sound when I let the clutch out. I'm hoping it's just a shift fork or something simple.

Towing the thing out of the rough wet field with a much smaller tractor is the first fun chore!

I don't know about towing if you broke a fork. Did that once on a combine and tore all kinds of stuff up. So bad I had to replace the trans. I've broke them on the 1030 and took it apart where it sat and repaired it.

my 800 did a similar trik one time ,, shifter would not move , stuk in neutral ,,it sat couple monthes waitin for shop time , harvest time came 1st , so , we towed it to the grain bin and ran the auger , after fillin bin ,,went to move to next bin and the shifter worked fine..,

It doesn't sound simple. The "ker bang" has me concerned. My 1st thought is the Range Shaft. Pull the cover & keep us posted.

Well, my descriptive terminology may have given the wrong impression. My bad. There wasn't a "ker-bang", that's a family term for anything that breaks. The actual noise/sensation was a soft thud or "tunk", so to speak, like when a tranny pops out of gear.

I will try to remember to be more accurate in my descriptions in the future. I can see not being accurate can cause me great alarm!

I was dragging a 10 foot JD tandem disc in 4th. Didn't seem to be laboring much. I have been having problems with the shifter sticking in reverse and 3rd. That's what made me think a fork.
