What is the model/series number this Case disk? It looks a lot like one Dad had in the early 1970s. His was about 18' with manual fold wings. - Joe

Joe that is a "B" series disc if it had wings it would be a "WB" series the dual wheels were optional on the smaller discs standard on the wing models

Thanks Tom. Do you know the years that disk would have been made? Was it the last disk Case made before they started contracting with other manufacturers?

Joe they were made from 1967 thru at least 1970 then they made a heavier model as well thru 1971 then the "vendor" produced units appeared, I do not have the model on the last disc handy so yes in a way this was one of the last "CASE" made disc's

I have one of these disk, it has the dual wheels on each side and no wings, about 14ft wide. I have an awful time with the wheel bearings, I am constantly having to re-adjust them to keep them tight. I have repacked them many times and he problem continues.

Does anyone ele have the same problem or is it just me?

Thanks
Gramps

I found years ago to pull the hub cap and drill/tap it for a grease zerk I grease them every day I use them and the bearing adjustment/problems have all but went away I do this on all of my hubs even the front tractor wheel hubs

Tom, I've also been doing this for years and with the great results I do it to everything!

Thanks for the ideas, I have grease zeros and I have been greasing the wheels every year but it only disk about 20 acres a year. I'm going to put new bearings in and hopefully greasing it every day will help.

Thanks

do you pump grease to it until it comes out the rear seals? they should run a thousand acres or more before you need to adjust them I have seen the threads on the spindle and or the adjusting nut be striped and then they will not hold adjustment either just a thought

CNT, will the caps like they make for boat trailers work; ie, can you find the right size? They make these with the grease zerks already in them, would save a bit of work shop tile, just pop the old ones off and new ones on and i thinks the material on the hubs is a little thicker where the zerk is so you get a few more threads to engage. The boating guys call them bearing buddies.

they may have a size to fit but I think the way they are made you would get dirt entry on units like discs that throw dirt at the caps and they stick out farther and could be knocked off possibly myself the original style cap is the better way to go I had several sets of the bearing buddies on my snowmobile trailers they worked well on them but were always pushing out grease so I think they would be a real mess in dirt just my thoughts though
