830 Diesel Fuel problem

Was shreading and tractor started running bad and died. Was low on diesel but not out. Replaced first filter and bled air. Checked second filter-it was half full of fuel. Opened bleeding bypass and bled air out of it. Could not get fuel to top of third filter so I added 5 gallons of fuel and still no luck. I don't think it has transfer pump after the first 2 filters. What can I do next? Thanks Kirk

the tank needs to be full to bleed system properly I have heard of guys putting air pressure to the tank to bleed the system BUT do not go above 5 psi or so as you can swell/damage the fuel tank

Another option is to use a very small funnel or a large syringe to fill final filter. You will have to pour slow to allow the air to escape. Depending on the yr of your tractor, there may be a bypass on the head of the 1st and 2nd filter to bypass part of the plumbing when when bleeding the final filter. As Tom stated, works best when tank is right full.

theflat bottom tanks will tget ya in trouble every time you get down below 3 inches ,, specially on hilly land ,, often wondered why case did not build their tanks with a curved sump sure would had saved a lot of headaches,,. btw ,, ibet if you cranked that 830 ,after your current efforts , the ol boy will start rite up...

My experience with an 830 diesel is that you have to have the fuel tank at least half full, bleed out the fuel filters and take an injector line loose to get the air out.

Thanks guys. I'll go fill my jugs up and try it then. Filling the third filter sounds like a good idea too. I may try that. Thanks again.

I have three 830 CK dsl tractors I have only had one run out of fuel but have changed filters many times I have my best luck if you change the third final filter the tank must be full to bleed it properly not saying it can't be done that is the way that works for me and yes I agree some times it does require cracking injector lines to get the air out this is true with most dsl fuel systems thanks for adding it to the post

It does have a transfer pump between engine an inj pump.Fuel goes through first filter than to transfer pump than to second filter an finally to final filter. With final filter cracked open an buy cranking engine it should blow out air in final filter. If you have t handle turned tight clockwise on top of double filters that should work as you said you have both filters full. That transfer pump if working properly will let you feel pulses on it with your finger. It should developep somewwhere around 15--20 psi if working properly.

Forget !I would remove line going to fiirst filter an make sure there is a good supply of fuel .Tank an tank outlet could be starving rest of system.
