Here's a photo of the bronze "old Abe" I referenced in my origanal post. Each is numbered on the globe at the base of Old Abe. The pictured one above recently appeared on Ebay and was number 301. Mine is number 250. The eagle figure pictured above is solid bronze. The globe portion of the brass plated version is hollow. In comparing the two, while the eagle figure is very close to same size, the bronze version is much heavier.

Above is a photo of two different versions of the "Old Abe," the bronze version on the left and the brass version on the right. The brass eagle appears to be the same as used on the sales award trophy.

Another photo shows the bottom of the brass eagle with the base removed. It appears the stem has broken off, revealing the hollow globe. I inserted a screwdriver in the base of the figurine. I was surprised to see that the eagle was actually hollow also. I mounted the brass eagle on the turned walnut base shown above with the use of a toggle bolt.

It would appear that the main difference is that the brass "Old Abe" (1958) is 24 years older than the bronze "Old Abe" (1982)
