12,13 and1570 lack of trans oil damage

Its been a few years since I last seen this. What happens is the operator either knowingly or not heads home with the tractor really low in trans oil. Usually 10-20 gal. low. This fella headed home because he had a bad leak and and knew it was getting low in oil. When roading the tractor in 4th gear everything is spinning fast throwing off lube oil of course. When the oil level is so low and there is no oil to sling around only bad things will happen in those tractors and this is what normally happens. The gears spinning on the pinion shaft run dry and try to weld themselves to the shaft. A lube line was added to later tractors and can be added to older units. I have not seen a tractor equipped with the pinion lube line do this. The pic shows the heated scored gears and shift collar sitting next to normal ones. The brg. pic is the RH diff. carrier brg. On 12+1370's and 2390's this brg. should be replaced if it is removed for whatever reason. In this area we have seen these fail over the years. 1570's+2590's have a larger RH diff brg. and I have not seen a failure on those. Rod.

Yikes!!!Would the effects be the same on the smaller 70's series? And the older models without the lube tube are they 1975 and older? Thanks for showing us how serious no lube can be.

wondered the same ,tranny Levels MUST BE MAINTAINED ,or Terrible Consequences occur ///, btw my 1070 Pshift only holds 16 +gallons ,,.how much do the 1570s hold ? ,, my 1070has the glass site glass and was built in 1970 .therefore I am able to use the engine dipstick to chek the tranny fluid from the filler nek .. it seems that 2 and1/2 inches above full mark on engine dip stik while parked on level is workin level for the p shift tranny,,, one of these days I would like to pull the glasses and clean them ,, so I can see the fluid better ,, but usin the engine dipstick has given me a secure confidence of a accurate reading

Rod, Your boys there are cavemen. Lol. I got some guys that are pretty rude and crude but your major damage posts take the cake. Like wreckin a rock with a rubber mallet.

Eric, we have guys that could ruin a rock if you gave them one, lol. I had my fingers crossed that the diff. was good in this tractor otherwise he would have sent it to the salvage yard. Rod.

12,23, and 15's hold 30+. The trouble with the sight glasses has always been you know when its low, but not how low. Rod.

This used to really bother me,watching these customers complaining because of the failure to the tech and really wasting his time. We had one guy like this Rod,that broke a Hyd hose in the field and thought there was plenty of oil in the tranmission so he kept going, and same thing happened.

Before I bought My 1370 I talked to the original owner he told me the tractor lost the top gear when it was 2 years old and the tractor was updated with the lube line.

The guy/owner acted like it was a design problem for Case that was corrected with a lube line; however I knew better, He ran the thing low on oil.

P.S. I was once told all Cases were junk by a man that kept having trouble with a 1980 model 2590 Case. He would literally tell everyone he spoke too about his junk tractor.
One day he was telling his story about Cases being junk and another man was standing to the side grinning. After the guy left the man came over to us and said don’t believe his story.
What he’s not telling people is that he broke a hyd hose and continued to disk until he ran the tractor out of oil.

I was going to ask this question before so I"ll hop on board here to ask....The sight glasses on our 1170 is tough to see. Can the sight glass be removed, and/or replaced? This concerns me. I certainly don"t want this damage happening. Thanks
