oil useage on 1030 case comfort king 451 desiel

i have a 68 model 1030 and it's got 4333hrs. we are second owners after oil change with using 2qts lucas oil stabilizer with 12qts. shell rotela 15/40 in 25 hours i've added 1.3 gals.of oil to it and it seems to be thinning the oil, i would consider over haul if need be. any ideas, i'am new to site.

Before overhaul I would change the oil and try straight 30W. Thats all we ever used in our old case diesels and never had any trouble!!!

my sons 930 diesel uses 4 times as much oil over same time ,, but we know it is wore out ...Still Starts Good and has tons of power,, thanx to LUCAS everything.
,, When that beast is idled back the motor is so wore out the pistons could swap holes .. LOL ..I would try as one poster suggests ,, 30 wt oil ,, and use Lucas ,,. could be that the Po of the 1030 Motor Has been run hard and put up wet for FAR too long like the 930 here,,. But then Again,,if a engine is trained to run on certain oils ,,They Could REVOLT when changed to another brand ,,. The longtime IHC dealer here that has adopted Case Very well ,,. Likes to comment ,, The MOTOR is The VERY BEST thing in a CASE TRactor ...

I agree with GMC.
These engines were designed for series 3 diesel oil #30 weight, for summer time use,I"m sure others have heard the stories of switching brands of oils in here,so I would go out and buy a tractor oil,and by the way I think Shell Rotella is a truck oil.
Just my take
Dan

I've had 2 new diesel engines consume oil when the crankcase had rotella in them. When i switched them to chevron delo 400, they stopped burning oil again.

You say, "...it"s thinning the oil". If that means you"re getting fuel in the oil, that"s the problem and you need to fix that and recheck the oil consumption.
