Inherited Case Model S

I inherited what appears to be a Case Model S from my grandpa. In remembrance of him I want to restore it to its original form. From what I have read there should be a serial number plate on the instrument panel. Well unfortunately there is not. So I was wondering if there is another place on it where the serial number could be. I just want to make sure that I have all the facts before diving into the project.

if the engine block is original it will have a serial and model stamped into the bellhousing on the carb side like shown in this pic

Looks like I have a 1942 SC Engine, unless they made a wide front SC. The chassis resembles more of a model S. Looks like maybe my gramps did an engine swap on it.

Case made SC 's with a wide adjustable front and the last ones you could get with a sold front axle also the "S"/"SI" and "SO" tractors all had a solid front axle with 24" rears all SC's had 38" rears here are some of mine first is a "S" next a "SI" and last is a "SC" with adjustable front

Is it possible that your serial number is stamped SO and the O did not get stamped very well and looks like a C ?
Your tractor looks like it could be an SO orchard model to me.

Well here is a pic of the serial number if that helps. Also thanks for everybody that has commented so far. This is my first restore and I just want to make sure I get everything correct.

good idea Nick I had almost posted about the "SO" as well the front axle seems real narrow I have never been around a "SO" was the front axle narrower on them? but I completely agree on it not being a "SC" so like you said either the engine has been changed or it read "SO" looks like a nice tractor to restore and you are lucky indeed to have it in your family so long look forward to pic of it in the resto phases there are a few things we could look at if it does say "SC" on the block to maybe narrow it down a bit more on the year pics of the controls and operators compartment may tell us more

Here is the serial number pic I forgot to upload last time. Also here are some pics of the operators area.

It does look like the engine from an SC has been installed into your tractor.
Are there any family records/paperwork or original owners manual that may have the serial number written in it?
I still believe you have a SO.
The oversize turf tires are common on orchard tractors used in sandy ground. The exhaust appears to have been modified in an upward position. There is no air stack.
Here's a pic of my S. Notice how much taller the steering shaft is. An SO has a shorter shaft like yours. Also your left hand light bracket is like an SO uses. It also looks like it has been moved higher than original. The tractor looks to have had a blade on the front and the lights were mounted higher to be above the blade.Your right hand light bracket looks home made. Most SO's only come with one front light.
The parts book shows your throttle was used on SO's from serial # 4600001 to 5313815.
