770 engine question.

will a 770 engine build to a 336 , 870. size 'with a sleeve and piston kit or will it have to be bored , are the cranks the same. i hope to rebuild this winter , will they last with a turbo ,wont about 100 hp. yes or no. thanks for any opinions. tom.
 
Mine is making about 85 hp as a turbo 267, limiting the boost to 10 psi(exhaust is crystal clear once it is spooled up at any load). I am sure she will do more by letting it blow more, and adding fuel, but in the interest of longevity I limited it.

The 267 block can be converted to take the 336/504 sleeves by boring it out... $$$$, but will still be a small journal crank. Heads are different too as the valves are bigger in the bigger engines, but shouldn't be a big a problem with a turbo.

Compare the cost of parts as 336/504 parts were cheaper than 267/401 last I checked. The boring option may not be as expensive as it first seems.
 
What turbo did you use for the 267?

Or maybe what i should ask is how did you turbo a 267.

Do you also have M&W pistons?

At one time I knew a man that put or claims to have put a turbo on a 267 in an 800 but I never got to see the tractor.

He claimed he was getting 85HP hooked to a dyno
 
I used the cheapest, waste gated, Chinese T3/T4 Hybrid turbo I could find on eBay... It is about the size of what is on a Turboed 4 Cylinder DB, even uses the same gasket.

Made an adapter that bolts on the exhaust manifold.

I have 2 years and a couple hundred hours of misc use on it. My Hp claims are simply comparing ground speed plowing, discing, and wagon dragging up hills to the 870 and 970.

Pistons are stock ones from a Powermax kit.
 
I have a David Brown tractor that says its a 770, but it is a 4 cylinder diesel and all the info I find on 770's say they are 3 cylinders. I'm trying to find HP ratings and other info thanks[/img]
