I have a 1952 case SC with a Fairbanks Morse Magneto been having a problem with the tractor missing under load the more gas I give it the worse it gets seems to miss sometimes when the angle of the tractor changes like on hills. But mostly under load or just holding the brake. I can usually stop the miss by decreasing the gas. Id appreciate any help plugs are ok. spark is a little weak but has always been like that. I can only say it has compression but don't know how much.. I did check the timing yesterday everything to specs. I sprayed around the manifold to check for leaks nothing. Sure could use some help on this one guys. I'm going to check the valve gaps today I set it last year I did check for a broken valve spring that was the problem last year. I did screw up the governor settings that were kicking under load before I fixed it! I decided to straighten the linkage out from the carb to governor lever. I tried to reset it to specs but no luck. Sure could use some help on this thing guys. Any think you can think of may help Thanks in advance.

Well I see there's a post on weak spark on a DC I have another coil for this mag Ill pt it in today see if it helps

It might not be the problem, but I would buy a used distributor with coil and get rid of that magneto. It's nice to have a magneto on a show tractor, but I would rather not deal with them on a tractor I use regularly. A horizontal IH distributor off a Farmall Cub or Letter series tractor will work. They fit pretty close to you oil filter. A vertical Delco distributor off an AC WD will work even better.

I think I would have to agree magnetos are expensive and at times almost impossible to find parts for The Fairbanks-Morse this tractor came with is simple to work on but a total nightmare to find rotors and caps for. I got a friend who has what I think is an IH distributor with a hyd pump attachment he"s been wanting to sell me. I think I might just pay him a visit.

I bought a IH distributor that also had a hydraulic pump attached. The distributor worked, but the hydraulic pump drive gear wasn't correct for the Case SC. I think having the pump on there would push the distributor in too close to your oil filter anyway.
