Case 2290 troubles

I have a 2290 that will run fine then it will start to lose power and want to die. I can push the clutch and let it catch up and it might not do it again or it might do it every 10 feet. I"ve changed the fuel and air filters and no change. not sure what else to do. I smokes a little white smokes and uses just a touch of water. Any Ideas?

I have no idea about the white smoke or water usage. But is the line clean from the little lift pump back into the tank? I had some troubles there in the past. Tom

I agree with checking the fuel line. My 930 diesel did something similar; I had a dead june bug in the fuel line.

Brother-in-law (God rest his soul) had a 1456 that did something similar and it was a piece of horse weed plugging off the fuel line.

My guess would be the water issue maybe another problem

IIRC, there is a sock type suction filter in the tank on the pickup tube, it is one of those brownish nylon things like on modern cars with the internal pumps, I would take the line off the transfer pump and you should have excellent flow there if not suspect a blockage in the tank, it should run a healthy full stream, if not there I would start right at the transfer pump , checking the inlet valve for anything plugging or keeping the valve from seating. Those systems are pretty basic so thats where I'd start. You could blow back the inlet tube and see if it gets you a better flow temporarily but you may have to disassemble and clean things up, these can be frustrating problems, good luck.
