Hi. I"m needing help. I just purchased an old case 530 back hoe. I"m trying to figure out if it has a clutch or a torque converter. Also where do i add hydraulic fluid? I got it started but it will not move when you put it in gear. The loader went up slowly then blew a hose. I have replaced the hose and need to refill the hydraulic system. There are 2 levers (one on each side of the trans) I"m not sure what they do, and one on the left side of the steering wheel. My model # is G530 TC and ID # is 8245925. Does anyone have any info on this? What manual do I need and can I find it here? Thank you for any and all help!

Kevin

sounds like you have a 530 CK first the trans type, the lever coming out of the torque tube on the left should be a FWD/REV shuttle lever the middle shifter is for 1,2,3,4 gear selection the lever to the right will be a HI/LO lever, now as to having a convertor if you have a lever to the right of the steering wheel like the throttle on the left side of steering wheel that is the COM/Direct drive lever if you do not have a RH lever it is a std clutch tractor, I can post you some pics later tonight as right now am heading back to the filed hope this gets you started

It has a big lever on the left side of the steering wheel and a smaller lever on the right side. I thought the one on the right was the throttle. It"s broken under the dash from what it goes to. There"s also a peddle under the brakes that I don"t know what it does. If the lever to the right of the steering wheel isn"t the throttle then where is it? Thanks Kevin.

The lever to the left of the wheel is the hand throttle. Also, I believe that the pedal that is below the brakes on the floor is the foot throttle. You set the engine speed with the lever beside the wheel (it works like a throttle stop) and can then use the foot throttle to rev it up beyond that setting. This is really handy for driving the tractor around. You can set the hand throttle for a idle setting and easily control your speed with the foot throttle like the accelerator pedal in your car.

Oh ok. I'll have to dig deeper into that lever also. When I moved it with the tractor running it didn't do anything. So when I put it in gear and let the clutch out do I have to have the hi/lo lever in one of those? Cause both levers on the sides of Trans were in a neutral position.

here is a scan on how the Case-O-Matic direct drive lever is used

Thank you! So with that lever will it start moving when the clutch is let out? If the hydraulic system is low will it make the tractor not move?

yes the tractor will not move if the torque convertor is low on oil, this scan is from 570 book but fill point is the same on a 530CK

Is that checked running or dead? Does the loader and back hoe share the same hydraulic reservoir? Does it use a special fluid or will regular hydraulic fluid work?

check it right after shutdown while hot, it will read high on the stick when cold and engine off on the oil they called for Case TCH fluid back in the day today I run Case Hy-Tran Ultra fluid in the hyd system and torque convertor it does cost more but to me its worth it, you can also run a equivalent

Thank you for all your help. Im going to work on it more tomorrow. I'll prob be back with more questions.
