I don't have the pressure guages available to do the pressure tests, but after doing a little more research, I went out a couple days later and went through the power shift ranges in neutral and watched the trans pressure guage on the dash when I shifted. It would dip down a bit on shifts but then jump right back to the middle in the green. I gave reverse one more try and now the tractor is backing up again. Could this point to a valve that was stuck?? If so, would a fluid change and cleaning the valves clear that up???

That would be a place to start, the valve should be removed and carefully cleaned taking each spool out and cleaning the bores by putting a screw in the threaded hole provided. A couple cans of brake kleen spraying the bore while moving the spool back and forth till they are free. Most times the valves are fouled by lack of maintanance so it is necessary to change the trans and steering filters and making sure the relief valve is in place. I have to keep repeating that as it is a common problem'

Anytime you notice any irregulrity in shifting you should stop running it immediately and fix or have fixed, Sad to say but repairs can exceed the worth of the tractor.
