tractor will not run long tractor motor races up and down thought i had water in fuel changed 3 sets of filters added heet treatment for diesel hand pump works fine held leaver up on hand pump seems to working when tractor is running also checked flow from tank fuel flowing fine tractor will idle fine for most part but when start to use will die some days will run fine all day has anybody else had a probley like this

The 3 cylinder ones never run as smoothly as the 4s. Some are much worse, it involves the internal timing of the rotor in the pump.

They are always a little fluttery, especially when there is no load on them.

Does your lift pump have a sight glass on it, or is it a replacement?

Have you drained the tank completely to get the water out?

Yes have drained tank yes pump has sight glass have
cleaned bowl and screen might add tractor has run fine for
years the guy that works for me said the problem is 33
years old and 15000 hrs always over worked

What is the normal procedure you have to use to get it running again...

Bleed the system and where?

Just let it sit overnight?

Just crank it for a while?

Are you sure the fuel pump is working correctly?
Our 1190 started running a little eratic and missing going up steep hills. Found out that the mechanical side of the pump was not working even though the hand primer was. I took the line loose and spun the engine over and it was not pumping, hit the hand primer and it pumped fuel. Replaced the fuel pump and it took care of it. That is the only part we have replaced since dad bought it new in 1982. Tractor has at least 6000 hard hours on it and maybe a lot more as the hour meter quit early on.

thanks for the reply most of the time we just crank on it after we can hear fuel going back into fuel tank some times we just save starter and pull it off i will take the line loose to injector pump and see if pump is pumping on its own thanks again

I would change or rebuild the lift pump, and check the length of the push rod behind it that drives the pump from the camshaft.

I would bet on either the arm on the pump being badly worn, or the push rod being worn shorter than spec.

15000 hours is a bunch of hours... especially for a tractor that no one gives a second though to.

just to add a note replaced the push pin from the camshaft to the feed pump old pin worn on both ends tractor is now running fine again thanks for all the help
