Value of Case 311?

Found this on a local online ad. I"m not a Case nut and have never heard of a 311. Is this a rare beast or just a junker? What would you expect to pay when the ad says "runs good, smokes a little but has sat for a while".

Asking price is under $1000.

the price is cheap for a runner for sure,, even needing work,, I would like to look it over more as it has a "VAC" style grill on a 300 frame? could it be one of the very few {Proto-type) 300 out there?

Unfortunately that's the only pic in the ad. If it's still available later this week I might be able to carve out some time to go look at it, but not likely. Thanks for the response.

does it list the serial # by chance, the proto's I know of have "EXP" on the serial plate? the grill was redone well if it is not factory hope you get time to see it cnt
