A1111 block casting number

I have a 1958 Case 701B that I inherited from my father that I am extremely attached to, and I just had the heads refinished, but found out that the head gasket set for the A267 are the wrong head gaskets for this engine. I don't know if I possibly have a 251 or 400 engine, but the 251 gaskets definitely do fit it, (Victor CH3103), and the A267 gaskets don't. The block casting is A1111, which I have also seen listed for A267. This is all very confusing for me, and I have been able to turn up nothing on the internet, as to what I have. Can one of you engine gurus that have a lot of knowledge on blocks and engine interchanges help me out? Also, would this engine have normally come in the 701B in 1958? It is definitely not an A267.

a 700/800 gas tractor has a 251 engine a 700/800 dsl tractor has a 267 engine, only a "400" had a 251 gas or dsl engine except the "Super" "400" had a 267 dsl but still had the 251 gas

The A1111 engines can be configured as a 251, 267 or 284 cu in engine. The sleeves will determine the cu inches of your engine: a 251 has 4.00" pistons, a 267 has 4.125" pistons and a 284 has 4.25" pistons. They all have a 5.00" stroke.

If you are in drought measure the sleeve diameter

Additionally, an A267 engine does NOT have an A1111 part number block. The newer wider blocks are referred to as A267. The A267 wider blocks were not in existence in the 1957 thur 1960 time period.

I don't see if you stated gas or diesel. If your 700 is a diesel, it is a 267. However, 267's in the 700 & 800 require a different head gasket than the 267 used in the 730 from 1960 & later.

i dont know if it matters but we had combine engine that was A1111. I think it was. a 150 self propelled. I'm not up on the early case combines. your tractor may have a combine block.

If you ordered your gaskets from this site, the sets have the wrong head gaskets. I have gotten 2 sets and both weree the wrong head gaskets. Went to Case dealer and got the right gaskets. I received a refund for the wrong gaskets..

He does state the tractor is a 701B so is definately a 1958 700 diesel. The block casting of A1111 is right for this tractor.

The 830 284 and 301 cubic inch engines use the wider head stud pattern.

i always thought the pre 30 series blocks would take either gas or diesel heads. Almost seams like the gasket set I got a while back came with the extra diesel gaskets too (decompressor).
