801b power steering leak

My new to me 801b seems to be leaking power steering fluid where the pedestal bolts to the gearbox. if I unbolt the pedestal and move it out of the way is there a seal right there that can be replaced or would it be more extensive than that. I do have a manual but its not real clear about this. Thank you, jstpa

You have to tear it apart. Completely. That pedestal mount wont let you install the seal. The box has to be split open and pulled apart to do it all. Suggest all new orings and seals etc.

Thatis aHale of a tedious job,....This Is Worth a Shot ,,,Try LUCAS TRANNYFIXand sealer ,, AND OR LUCAS HUB SEAL ,,.,. All Shouldbefound at NAPA ,,.. iuse it on everything for the last 15 yrs ,,

Thanks guys, I was afraid it would be a major job. I'll give the lucas a try. its just a seep but it bothers me. jstpa

mine went out too. Tried lucas (at best it is snake oil) but that seal will only get worse and will just pour out.

I don't think some of the parts are available anymore. If you can find them i'd do the bearings too since you have to take the whole thing apart.

I found a low hour 1030 front nose with a good unit. Figuring the wide fronts don't put much abuse on the steering box. It works great. You can spin the wheel with one finger sitting still. figure on $300ish for a good one.
