Case 1290 clutch

Friend has a Case 1290 that he wants me to look at that. Sometimes it grinds when you try to put it in gear.Does the clutch have a slave cylinder or is it strictly a mechanical linkage? Thanks, Bill

Could be either. Does it have a cab?

If hydraulic do NOT use brake fluid in the master cylinder.

Probably just a simple mechanical clutch linkage.

Some of these have a 2 stage clutch, some have independent. Make sure you leave a little free play in the clutch or you will be splitting it soon for a throw out bearing.
