400 seat repair

I have torn onto a few projects in my day,but the seat pan and rail repair has been challenging.Everything has been together since February 1955 when she came off the assembly line in Racine. I am curious if the clothlike friction disk between the torsion spring and the seat rail is asbestos. The pivot bolt that fits through the torsion spring was locked solid and had to be drilled out on both sides, then I went to the lathe and made a new pivot bolt. I have replaced the two bronze bushings for the pivot bolt and will begin assembly once the flambeu red dries.I have to get this one right because my ars will tell me if it isnt .Sorry to ramble on about his one. Chuck,
Looks like it"ll be brand new when you get done. I spent all afternoon replacing seat cushions on 3 tractors. Got tired of jumping on and getting a wet behind. Don

Ramble all you like Chuck,, have to say I always wanted to have a lathe and to those of you who do and know how to use them I am a bit on the "wanting" side of that looks like a great job on the repair cnt
