Corn Planting Time

19 for a temp this morn and another 6 in of fresh snow. I know a large part of the country is experiencing the same conditions. Here in SW MN we did not have hardly any snow all winter until 2 weeks ago. A crippling ice storm and 2 blizzards since, I guess it was our turn. Something tells me I won't be planting corn in a week like I had planned earlier. In the forecast I heard of 2 more chances of snow this coming week. The pic is a shot out our front door. Rod.

Hey, Rod, they are forcasting a low of 17 in the Cities tonight. Little hard to get that planter in the ground!!!!!!!!!!!

Normally we would want to start May1 plus or minus a couple days. I am think more like May10, and not using the longest season seed that I have on hand. The soil temps simply aren't where they need to be.

We finished corn today one year ago here in West Central Missouri, and my son was born 2 days later. This year, we'd need a week of 75 degrees and sun to even think about planting.

Were in almost the same boat here in Central IL Rod. Except we"ve had six inches of rain since Monday and looks like the begining of next week is going to be full of even more rain.

Jt your area really was hit hard. in Decatur area we had 3" w/fields looking like small lakes hard to believe we are getting it again. crazy temps also .

A year ago I sat on my thumbs till April 20th while the neighbors all started on the 11th. It about ate up my stomach but I held to my convictions. After I started it was easy going all the way. Not this year! Jim

gonna be STILL a few more days after this latest cold snap ,,. .. here in s/ind,, fields are burned down , planters and supplies lined up like the ky derby or Oklahoma land rush ..
