New rant on prices

I think I have a new example of CNH's highway robbery of those of us with the older tractors. I was working on the hydraulic valves on my 2294 today and when I got it apart I noticed that whoever had put it together last had lost most of the .003" shims that go in between each valve. Price that CNH wants for them you ask $7.15...APIECE! I went to the local machine shop bought some shim stock for 76 cents and made my own with shim stock to spare.

I agree they are high on most things myself I would rather be able to still get a part even if it is high rather than how they are obselting a LOT of them glad you found a inexspenive fix
the washer above goes into a 1200/1470 planetairy and has tabs to keep it from turning withthe gear they are almost $30.00 each but I still found a couple and was glad for that but the price still "PO'd" me, although I did find a couple good used one in my "parts" later LOL cnt

Its just not the Case parts that we are getting raped on the ol IH parts are the same way. I had to put a clutch in my H last fall and I called cnh and they wanted over $600.00 dollaers for a cluch kit, pressure plate , disc, throw out bearing and pilot bearing. I got one from nnalert with all the same items and the same warrenty for $240.00 Why?? Its total bulls(*&%&(%^that they keep raping us on parts for these old tractors. Now, Ill get off my soap box, Kenny.

I can tell you why with one word......FIAT.

Thier cars sales ain't doing so good. Gotta make money someplace.

I've noticed that all parts prices are going through the roof, plus i think the quality is going down.

I know a man that owns a very large auto parts store that sells nation wide.

He says that a lot of those companies that went over-seas 20-30 years ago are going broke and shutting down.

There are some parts he can't even get anymore

It's not all CNH thats raising the prices, it's the consumer. Maybe years ago when they made there own parts and used them on many different models the could stay competitive. I can remember buying bearings at dealer because they were cheaper that anyone else. Over the years we the people wanted higher wages, better hours, better working conditions. We wanted more and more. We know where that led to. Ih would contact suppliers to furnish the parts, usage dropped, IH had to rebid to keep them available. Soon the venders were charging higher prices to keep making the part. After market then killed the dealer. IH still had to supply the parts. The 10 years I worked at the dealership we never ever ordered a IH clutch, but IH/Case still showed it available. Just think you price a IH clutch for 700.oo and a Hy-capity one for 400.00 and make a killing on the aftermarket one. Warrany is another issue. Take older parts, after market quit them do to no demand and now we want IH/CAse to provide them 50 years later at the 50's price. One really hasn't seen high prices for older parts. Start buying parts for vehicles. A HHR inner door handle you have to buy the whole inner panel. Fuel pumps 450-700. Generator 450-600 dollars.Price a GM wheel hub vs Napa. Any one put new injectors in a GM vehicle lately. ok I gotta stop.
