If the sleeve is low that indicates the block is eroded and must be repaired. The block should be planed a few thou and the block bored to take the later wide flanged sleeves. This should be done by a competent machine shop and a bare minimum removed as piston to valve clearance can be affected. I have done many of them. mEl
