AS Don R had posted on here I had a mild stroke last week. Spent two days in the hospital recovering and now recouping at home. I was very lucky, the doctors told me that most people with this kind of stroke have some sort of paralysis, but it only affected my speech. I am going to speech therapy twice a week, and that really helps. My wife and daughters tell me that they can't notice anything wrong. I thought that 53 was too young for a stroke, but I was wrong. They say that when treating a stroke time is of the essence, well trust me it is. I should have went in sooner. Thanks much for all thoughts and prayers sent my the past week, it is greatly appreciated. Kenny

I'm glad to hear you are on the mends. I have been having similar events myself. Got 13 years on you though. I can't stablize my BP. Had another 2min. event yesterday, but I'm not going to "cry wolf" every time this happens, and spend a day getting poked and prodded and give my birth date out 100 times. I'm not willing to put up with that crap anymore.

Loren,
I get the crying wolf thing, but your situation sounds very serious. This is no time to be a tough guy.

Ken. glad your getting better. l thought too young also . i had a heart attack at age 50 don't smoke or drink. that was 7 years ago.

Loren, go with the program( lol )stay healthy . it's nothing to mess with . i also get sick of questions, tests, medicines.

Guys it beats the other option. you have people who depend on you friends , family and us guys on the forum that need your advice .

i hate to admit, i cheat on eating healthy food and excercise ....

Ken,

I am very relieved to hear that you are making good progress. You need to get healthy in time for that summer tractor ride. Don

WOW!!! I still think too young!! Best of luck and take care. 53 is way way too young to ceck out,I am only a year behind you. Behave and rest up,do what the doc tells you, and when it comes to eating healthy, remember the old rule. If it taste good, spit it out. Bruce

Time to quit local talent and get to Mao Clinic as you have been fortunate so far. Laying in a Nursing Home "crapping the sheets" would be no fun, especially for your family. regards, john

Loren get your butt to a REAL Cardiologist and get that BP straightened out. I went through the high BP, irregular heartbeats, and was in constant threat of stroke with BP as high as 220/105 at rest.

Like you I hate to go to a sawbones, let it go too long and had to have an Ablation procedure and about 7 months of BP med changes. The last six month I have been under 140/90 pulse 60"s-70"s with no irregular heartbeats. Lots of energy now and can do anything I want except smoke.

I"ve got 3 years on you. Get your BP down you"ll be a new man.

Joe
