Thoughts if bring back to life a powershift that has sat

I drug home a very early 1070 today(8653...), Iron nose, decent rubber, straight tin, open station, bucket seat, good rubber trim on dash, original paint, 4200 hours from second owner(of 20+ years).

Downside, it has been sitting for at least 5 years, maybe 10, outside. Story was it had a fuel issue, owner had the injector pump rebuilt and never reinstalled it. Sat in his side yard, his wife planted flowers around it. Then she got tired of it.

The plan is to pull the heads and pan to look inside the engine. Probably do an inframe unless the crank has issues.

What are the chances of the PS working if I put a fresh engine in front of it?
 
I would change the filters at least. Son bought a 1070 that sat about 12 years and the filters were soggy and about to break apart. Tractor works good. Some one with more knowledge can tell you more . WE topped the fluids off and put in new batts and primed the fuel system and it ran like it had just been shut off.
 
I would think chances are pretty good, if you don't have 10gals. of water drained out before any tranny oil appears. You will more than likely have to do a thourough cleaning of the pilots in the PS valve though.

I had figured filters and oil at minimum. If there is any water in it, I would expect to see it at the bottom.

I got frustrated with orphan 1070 number 2, and went back to Orphan Number 1 today...

I finished the little things it needed to get running.

You would seem to be correct on the sticky pilots. I started it, check for major leaks, then pulled it out of the shop. Things I observed...

1. The grunt happens fast compared to any other PS I have run, almost instant.

2. It doesn't roll when you push in the inching pedal while rolling, stops hard like brakes were applied. Does the same in reverse, though not as hard.

3. PS lever doesn't physically move into 3rd, but shifts easy in other gears

4. PS 2nd gear seems kind soft, not the nice firm shift a healthy one does.

Once I realized they was something wrong, I turned it around an pulled right back into the shop.

I guess I will clean up the top of the transmission, and pull the pilots. Is it doable without pulling the valve?
