Tom, is that 30 series tractor in the background behind your planter a 730 or 830, looks very familiar. Don't see too many on here that had the clam shell fenders, most CK models.

I sure like that 770 of yours. Seems like it is a very busy tractor on your farm? Keep the great pics coming please.

I spent many days on the wagon stacking bales from a case baler just like that back in early-late 1960,s. Dad farmed us 4 boys out to all the neighbors ( who did pay us by the way) and they baled ours for free. Everyone wins until the govt gets involved. He ran that baler with his "big" tractor, a 620 JD and later got a new 730 CK Case to run it with.RB

We had an 830 dual range diesel about that year model. Ours was what Case called a Standard 4 Wheel model, not a Western with the big fenders and ours had eagle hitch but non adjustable wheels or front axels.
I am guessing not many of those made as I haven't seen another like it.

It ended up somewhere in Central Texas around the La Grange,Brenham,Schulenberg,Giddings area. Would like to find it again but it may have gone to scrappers by now. Was a real puller.

Always nice pics, been admiring that 770. I know you got a ton of hrs on it, I was trying to figure the yr. 71, maybe 72. Case built cab, does the 770 decal on the fuel tank have the box around it? I see in lit the real early ones don't and later sunset ones did. When did they discontinue the 770's? Do you remember when the late sunset 8, 9, and 1070's had that glass pack style muffler with the curved extention? I never seen a 770 then so I don't know if they used it or not. The hole in the hoods were smaller, when that muffler went bad and was no longer available you had to cut a bigger hole in the hood. That sucked, but had no choice if you wanted to use a factory muffler. Rod.

yes Rod it is a 1971 model and the 770 on the tank does have a box and say "Agri King" under 770, I got my cousin a new muffler for his 870 last year from Hy-Cap a round one his is a 1973 have to look at the hood, they dropped 770's in 1972 870's made it in to 1974, as to the curved extension I have one to get on mine and they did have them for the round mufflers cnt

CNT, the pictures are a great learning tool. ( sorry a little off topic. I wish that hay was my barn looks high quality. I just paid $14.00 for one of those compressed bales( probably from you area) to see what they were like. a friend is thinking about buying a baler . which is the better all around baler cost /maint,etc round or square? we use square and round bales . thanks again for the pics

as to the cost, I seen a report that JD had done some years back on the cost of putting up hay, they claimed that round baling was the the most cost effective and that it kept the best, that said the next was small square bales only because of the labor involved getting the squares in the stack/or barn, to me a square baler makes a very good long life product when I am as we do not stack hay inside as a general rule a well made stack of squares other than the top and bottom bales can stay good for a long time, a round bale made with a belt baler and properly "stacked" ( I do not stack round bales any more I just place them end to end with a couple feet between the rows so water can shed, but most people can not do this as they haven't the room) will last a fair amount of time also, a square baler requires a certain amount of knowlage to keep it in top shape and for when a tying problem comes up tha a round baler does not require, also a round baler can put a huge amount of hay in bales in the same time compared to a small square baler, for me I do like the round baler as it is generaly me doing all the work other than I do get ome help swathing at times,, not sure if I answered your question as to my hay most of mine is a Crested Wheat grass/Alfalfa mixture here is a pic of my field before cutting this one is just Alfalfa cnt
