SC is finished (sort of)

Finished up the paint and decals on the SC last week and took it out for a drive and some outside pictures. Still working out what to do on the charging system. My generator shop could not find parts for the old Auto-Lite generator. I"ve got some old Delco generators I could put on. I am also considering putting an alternator on. We"ll see how much I want to run it. First is a before picture others are after pictures taken in my grandpa"s driveway and last is it sitting in the barn.

Zach;

I have used Ford 12 volt generators on some of my tractors. They are from late 50"s. Have plenty amperage for tractors and look a lot better than alternators. Just have to bend the bracket a little bit to make them fit. May be more difficult on the SC to find a good place for the regulator. Maybe on the bulkhead behind the engine. On the V and VC, I hide them in the toolbox.

You can get rebuilt 12V Autolite generators from nnalert. I got one for my 630 to replace a junky old Delco alternator someone rigged on it. You will need to add a voltage regulator but batteries are easy to find and the only down side is replacing all your light bulbs with 12V versions.

He could not find the field coils. All of the old cloth insulation inside has dry rotted. But part of me wonders if he didn"t really try real hard to find parts. From what I have read the auto-lite parts are becoming harder to find, though.
