Flow meter to test 90 series tractors

Northern tool has two meters for sale items 2048-2306 30 gpm @ 5000 psi and 20480-2306 32 gpm @ 6000 psi.
Would either of these work to adjust the pumps on a 2390?
I spent the past several months looking for someone locally and struck out

Bill,
I looked at the NH units you are refering to. They have no means of restricting the flow and no pressure gage, it is a simple GPM gage unlike the professional ones we use have. Ours at the shop is electronic and has a flow restrictor knob that we can vary the pressure on the system and I'm sure that is required to test the PFC system. IIRC there are additional shutoff valves and hosing required to do a factory type evaluation and you will be working with 2000+ pressure on the outlets.

Your test hoses must have a wide safety margin from the test pressures. You will need a factory service manual with the procedure and pictures. It is not a simple hookup and test and you're done, there are many steps involved. If you have a hose rupture in close proximity you can be injured at worse, and get a good dreching of hot oil.

Not to discourage you but most who have this expensive tooling are factory trained in both the procedure and the safety aspects.

I have all kinds of hi pressure fittings needle valves pressure gauges, hoses.
I also have the factory service manuals and fair idea of how the system works.
If I had a service tech who had worked on a 90 series Case with in 150 miles I would probably hire him. We have not had a true Case dealer within 250 miles since the early 70's. My nearest Case IH dealer 120 miles is only been in business for about 5 years. they would not have a clue.

It is about 430 mi. to Tom's, a long 8 hours pulling a heavy trailer. Tom's already provided some valuable guidance in the project.
I done all my own maintenance and overhaul work for the past 40 years. I spent several years as a underground mine Electrician & mechanic. I do send out machining work as I don't have the tools.
