For those interested in my cheap tires on the SC

I snapped a few pictures of those funny-looking tires I bought for anyone interested. If you can decipher that name let me know...I sure can't.

What did those run you? We are doing my better half's B right now and it needs tires. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for new Firestone, because it will never do more than drive around the yard.

Looks like the brand is Lande. These are Chinesse made tires (P.R.C.= Peoples Republic of China). In my business Chinese made goods are of suspect quality. If all you want is to move the tractor around to shows and hold the rims off the ground they may be OK for that but IMHO I would not trust them for much else.

Check out this Web site.

You can bet any steel belys, beads, etc. in these tires used to be Cases, JDs, Farmalls, etc.

Any further and my personal biases get in the way more that they already have.

No offense to anyone, just trying to share some info.

Zach, you don't have to buy name brand (Goodyear, Firestone, etc.) do a little Web research and see what maybe Miller tire has etc. You would pay to ship from them but I bet there are other and better sources closer to you.

I checked miller tire. They had the firestones which is really what I wanted but was out of my price range. Maybe someday if I come in to some spare cash I can get me a set or maybe find a good used pair at an auction or something but these are what I can afford to spend on this particular project.

As has been said many times on this site, "it is your tractor and you can do with it what you like". Sticker shock has me holding off repacing some tires right now, but, I know with oil prices and quanitative easing (aka printing more paper money)the price is not going to go down. Waiting for my ship to come in also. lol gobble

Tom,I have it on good authority ,that you are in the running for the set to be given away at the Who Tractor Ride in Sioux City!.HEY!

Will be interesting to see what they look like in a couple of years. Hopefully they will be good but my info is that they crack up quickly and it doesn't much matter if they are in a shed or not. I'll be interested to here your results.

You are probably riding around on tires made in China. Almost all automobile tires are made in China.

I've got several sets of USA made tires, or so they are marked, that are under 15 years old. All are cracked, some a lot worse than others. I think it's the formulation of the tires. I've got some that much be 50-60 years old that look better than the new ones as far as cracking.

I have a set of BKT tires on a DC. They are probably 10 years old now and have no cracks. They do have some deep slices in them from being sliced with pole building steel in an EF5 tornado. (The tractor that they were originally on was destroyed in the tornado).

I would be that these cheap tires will last at least until the next restoration is needed.

I will say the tread design on the BKT tires is a lot nicer than these tires. The ugliest part of the BKT is the 3" high letters on the sidewall telling me that it is ISO9000 compliant.

Unless a set slipped past I usually look at the "Made in" line molded on my tires and shy away unless they say "Made in USA".
